She Ain’t Got (Jason Nevins Edit) – LeToya [Download]
Skream’s Let Get Ravey Remix takes the song to another level, on it’s own. It takes off the punchy beats, and replaces them with an eerie music that suprisingly work well for the song. If you loved the original one but got bored of it, this is for you.
I love Bollywood remixes. I love anything indian that touches american music, it automatically upgrades it (Britney’s Me Against The Music, anyone?). This is keeping with the “status-quo”, take a listen and tell me what you think!
La Roux is new to the music scene, but not entirely, her first single Quicksand didn’t practically chart in the UK, but her second one “In For The Kill” which was a sleeper’s hit, reaching #2 on the chart. Now she’s ready to take the UK by storm with her new single “Bulletproof”, which I think is much better than the first two combined! Here is the album version and the Zinc remix of the song. I hope this becomes her first #1 hit, it’s very much worthy of being so.
I love remixes that change the listening “experience” of a song, “Robtos to Mars” remix does that exactly. It tones the song down, and make it very lounge-y, except for the main track which isn’t slowed down. Take a listen and decide for yourself.
LoveGame (Robots to Mars Remix) – Lady GaGa [Download]
Jazmine is my favorite artist of 2008, along with Lady Gaga. The album is flawless, ALL of it, I’ll write about more in the near future. This is her fourth single, and this mix is one of those uncatergorized remixes that you just don’t know where to play, and you end up playing them everywhere. This sounds like something M.I.A. would do, and the song itself is immense and the original uses a sample from Daft Punk’s “Veridis Quo”. Take a listen you won’t be disappointed.
And by Galore I mean three songs only. Space Cowboy remixes Gaga’s songs the best, here are the first three US singles after his modifications, I like Love Game’s remix the most. ps: you can tell I only posted this post to showcase the sheer brilliance of the fanmade single cover above.
The one artist famous for re-singing her remixed singles is Mariah Carey (We Belong Together‘s remix with Jadakiss is perfection), and I personally admire and respect an artist that actually make an effort to please their fans, because everyone loves a re-sung remixed song. One of Jill Scott‘s best songs in her whole career gets that treatment, and gets it well. The ‘Head Nod Remix‘ adds so much to the song, it is not better than the original, but it’s a lovely change if you ever get bored of the original. Take a listen and tell me what you think.
