Lily covers Q

2ufdhdkI have never thought of Lily Allen as a sexy pop star, and I’ve always HATED bangs, I didn’t think they looked good on ANYONE, no matter how strikingly gorgeous they might be, but I have to say that Lily Allen + bangs is a very successful combination, she rocks bangs like no one does, her hair never looked better, especially in The Fear’s video, she looks extremely beautiful. And here’s her cover of UK’s Q, I think it’s working, very much.

GEMS!

I missed making Gems posts, today I have 8 songs for you to download, love and overplay, enjoy!

aliciaNever Felt This Way (Interlude) – Alicia Keys
This interlude can be found on her debut album, the lyrics and emotional delivery of Ms. Keys is unparalleled, and it’s no different this time, she shines all through the 2 mis interlude.

untitled-2Not Fair – Lily Allen
Remember Not Big from her debut album? This is its big sister song. It’s Lily’s next single, one of the best on the album, and quite brilliant to be honest. The story is about her having the perfect boyfriend, who “treats her with respect, tells her that he loves, and calls her 15 times a day” but fails to “make her scream in bed”. The chorus is addictive, “It’s not fair, and I think you’re really mean, I think you’re really mean”.

meganPorcelain Doll – Megan McCauley
Big vocals, and soft piano arrangement. Basically a depressing song, but a BEAUTIFUL depressing song, I downloaded Megan’s album not sure what to expect, I didn’t like it much, except for this song, she can really sing. You’ll like this.

pinkIt’s All Your Fault – P!nk
P!nk is genius, every thing she does, every lyric she sing, she makes it her own. This is my favorite song off Funhouse, and I wish beyond wishing that it never gets released as a single, that would ruin its magic. Although this sounds A LOT like Kelly Clarkson, I don’t think it would’ve been half as good if it was sung by her, and I love her. The song is about suicide if you didn’t get the lyrics.

jloI Got You – Jennifer Lopez
Darkchild is my favorite producer, and I especially love her producing that are tinged with eastern styled music, and this is a fine example of that. Found on J-Lo’s flop of an album Rebirth, which I quite  liked, poor J-Lo.

maroonMakes Me Wonder (Just Blaze Remix) – Maroon 5
If you liked the original, you’re most definitely going to go bonkers after this remix.

kellyEvery Thought Is You – Kelly Rowland
The only thing to salvage from Kelly’s album.

jescaLove Is All We Have – Jesca Hoop
A very beautiful song about Katrina the hurricane, the lyrics are touching, and Jesca’s voice soars in every single second throughout the song. Her voice is very distinctive.

Review: It’s Not Me, It’s You – Lily Allen

Topping a best-selling debut album is one of the hardest things in the music industry, thus, many suffer the so-called “Sophomoric Slump”, but Lily has successfully managed to avoid just that. Not only is her new album far more superior to her debut album Alright, Still, it’s a masterpiece. While her first focused more on the Mark Ronson authentic sound, this leans more towards synths and electronica, the sound has definitely evolved, but not to the point of alienating fans. The lyrics are still witty and quirky. I have uploaded my favorite songs off the album. ‘Not Fair‘ which is surely a future single is quirky song with a catchy melody and memorable chorus that’s bound to have radio stations have it on loop. ‘I Could Say‘ which sounds alot like the version that leaked, is probably the most personal song on the album, think of it as the ‘Littlest Things’ of this album, but drown the latter in ice cold water and you’ll get ‘I Could Say’. ‘Never Gonna Happen‘ is my favorite song, and probably one of the best Lily did, the chorus is one of the most infectious ones I’ve heard in a while, very sing-a-long friendly. ‘Who’d Have Know‘, my second favorite song on the album, is a very relaxed song, and a nice change of pace throughout the album, the line “Even though it’s moving forward, it’s just the right amount of awkward, and today you accidently called me baybay” is my favorite for not reason other than the deliverance of the line. BUY the album, it’s very much worth your money, and alot more.

Not Fair
I Could Say
Never Gonna Happen

Lily’s Fear

the-fear-official-single-coverLily Allen has made her mark on Pop music with the witty debut single, ‘Smile’, even though I’m not a huge fan of it, I can’t deny its sheer brilliance. ‘Alright, Still’ was one of the best pop albums back in 2006 [holy crap, has it been this long?], its magic didn’t wear off yet, with songs like Knock ‘Em Out, Littlest Things and Everything’s Just Wonderful, how can it? A bunch of track snippets of the new album are doing the rounds on the web, but I refuse to listen if it’s not the whole thing, HQ. We can only expect wonderful things [pun unintended] from Lily’s ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’, even the album title is brilliant. There’s nothing like Brit pop, and i’ll keep saying this till i’m six feet under.
