Song: Rawweh Ou Rouh/Egrib Gireeb
Album: Sawaha Galbi/Awgat
In short: Arabic music for today. Asalah is one of the middle east’s best vocalists, her voice depth is crazy. Those two songs were released on different albums, but one is the “antithesis” of the other. The first “Rawweh Ou Rouh” (Go Away) is of course a break-up song, but notice the instrumental and the melody, for it’s almost the same on the second song “Egrib Gireeb” (Come Closer), which of course is a “make-up” song, it was a smart move of hers to have them both sound alike for more impact. For almost a week I have been in a full-swing arabic music mood. Enjoy these songs, even if you’re not speaking the language.
Props to Apple for creating the most efficient, and well-designed web browser. It still has some glitches here and there, but all in all, the official non-beta version should be nothing short of perfection. You can get your fix by heading over to Apple’s website and downloading it for free for both Mac and Windows users. Enjoy, and have a good night.
Freida Pinto of Slumdog fame covers the March issue of Vogue India, she looks stunning, in other news: Freida Pinto, Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins have all been cast in the upcoming Woody Allen project. Wonderful cast if you ask me, I love his movies, and I can’t wait ’til that one comes out, but looks like it won’t until sometime in 2010, it’s going to be filmed in London this summer.
Pedro Almodóvar, the director behind many of Penelopé Cruz’s movies, most prominently Volver, the movie that got her an Oscar nomination. They team up again on this movie which, by the look of the teaser trailer, seems promising. I love Penelopé, and everything she does, I solely trust her movie choices. Check the teaser, I can’t wait for it to come it.
Who: SoHo Dolls
About: I first heard from them in an episode of Gossip Girl, I instantly fell in love with the song, and soon enough the whole album “Ribbed Music For The Numb Generation”. Their still is very weird, it mixes everything from jazz to electronica to pop to rock..etc. I could go on forever. Here are the two songs featured on the show, and funnily enough they’re both featured in a stripclub scenes, which is one of the many feels of the album, it’s very sexy.
I have never thought of Lily Allen as a sexy pop star, and I’ve always HATED bangs, I didn’t think they looked good on ANYONE, no matter how strikingly gorgeous they might be, but I have to say that Lily Allen + bangs is a very successful combination, she rocks bangs like no one does, her hair never looked better, especially in The Fear’s video, she looks extremely beautiful. And here’s her cover of UK’s Q, I think it’s working, very much.
